Coping With HVAC Emergencies
When your HVAC stops working, usually at the worst possible of times, getting it back up and running is a priority, so it is fairly safe to say that it is an emergency situation. Oh how much easier life would be if the system would break down during working hours, or at least when we are at home to get the problem fixed immediately. Of course, here at Petrocelli Services we are available to come and fix your air conditioning 24 hours a day, because we know these systems have a mind of their own!
Of course blind panic may have caused you to instantly assume that the whole system has broken down and only a qualified technician will be able to fix things – after all, this is a worst-case scenario. But once the shock of realizing that the temperature in your home is about to go through the roof has settled down, maybe it would be a good idea to see if you can do some damage limitation.
If this has occurred out of hours, could you survive until the next day, or for a couple of days, to schedule in a less-costly visit? Has the air conditioning affected the electrics throughout the house, or can the problem be isolated? Are you sure that the system hasn’t just tripped a switch? Don’t always assume the worst and land yourself with an unnecessary emergency repair bill.
If you’ve developed a leak, can you solve the problem by turning off the air conditioning and taping it up, not to get the system working again, but just to minimize any water damage while waiting for the repair man to visit?
If you’re unsure what’s best to do, then just pick up the phone, give us a call, and we’ll be able to guide you in the right direction.
